For reaching the final of the first Grand Slam tournament of the season, world number two Daniil Medvedev met with Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, who ranks fourth in the ATP rankings. Previously, the rivals met eight times and in six cases Medvedev won.

The first set turned out to be equal, and his fate was decided on a tie-break, where the Russian turned out to be a little more lucky – 7:6 (7/5). The second game was not easy for the Russian and at some point he snapped at the judge, who refused to notice Tsitsipas’ hints from the stands.

“Are you stupid? His father speaks in every drawing,” Medvedev shouted. – Will you answer my question?! His father is always talking! How can you work so badly and be in the semifinals of the tournament.”

The second game remained for Tsitsipas – 6:4, but the outburst of negative emotions clearly helped Medvedev. The third set was again left for him – 6:4.

And in the fourth game, the Russian already dominated his opponent, allowing him to win only one game – 6:1.

On Sunday, in the final of the tournament, Medvedev will compete for the main prize with the former first racket of the world Spaniard Rafael Nadal.
